Nordic Membrane Laboratory (NML) started to research on polymeric membranes and its application “to support sustainable industrial growth”. Research in NML includes preparing membranes- membrane fabrication, characterization, modification -and application of membranes in liquid separation, gas separation, and energy applications. Thanks to the multidisciplinary researchers from different parts of the world we in NML are able to tailor membrane structures to produce a specific semi-permeable barrier for special separation applications. An advanced membrane separation, the aim of which is to substitute large, expensive, energy-intensive, polluting systems with high efficient, green, highly safe, automatized compact system is one of the main targets in NML. The mentioned target is a crucial factor in different industrial sectors such as biorefinery, clean coal industry, cement industry, steel technology, food industry, pharmaceutical industry, hydrogen technologies, and energy-efficient technologies. In addition, it plays an important role in Carbon dioxide capturing, zero-discharge, energy and water sustainability, biomass, alternative fuels, water management, air toxics, and contaminant cleanup.
